What Is WatchDOGS?
Simply put WatchDOGS is an awesome program that is "Rewarding for Dad's and Great Memories for Kid's". WatchDOGS (Dads of Great Students) is celebrating it's 19th year as an innovative father involvement, educational initiative of the National Center for Fathering.  It began in 1998 in a single school in Springdale Arkansas and has since grown into a nationally recognized program that has brought hundreds of thousands of fathers and father figures into our nation's classrooms and hallways. WatchDOGS has created millions of "in school" volunteer hours and continues to have a tremendously positive impact on the educational process.  Today more than 5,348 schools in 48 states plus the District of Columbia participate in WatchDOGS, it is recognized by the US Department of Education and the Virginia PTA.

Who are WatchDOGS (Dads Of Great Students)?

Dads make a huge difference in a childs education!  WatchDOGS are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father figures who volunteer for at least one day each school year at a WatchDOGS school. During the day, WatchDOGS may read with students, work on flash cards with the kids, play at recess, eat lunch with their child, watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow, mentor students, or perform any other assigned activities. They actively engage with not only their child(ren), but other students as well.  Their mere presence offers additional security in the building during the school day.
